Help me develop and/or create my board game?

Boris Hadsall: I have created my own games before, mostly war games, but I have made characters. You can get some print shop programs that can help you with card creation (use the business card programs). A lot of them allow downloads of pictures and characters from the Internet. Use thicker paper for the cards; you can get it at any office supply store. As far as your board, it will depend upon what form you want your board to take. You can go to an office supply store and get a piece of foam board, or some poster board and some thin press board from Home Depot, and paste the poster board onto pieces of the press board. If you want a professional look to the board, you will have to get a printer large enough to print out the entire board. It may be better to go to a local sign company, and have them make it.As far as characters, if you just need colored pieces, use pieces from other games, like Sorry or Parcheesi. If you want cast figures, find a game store near you; a lot! of them sell figures for games like Dungeons and Dragons that you may be able to use. Companies like Ral Partha make hundreds of different figures, most about 25mm high with great detail....Show more

Lashawn Zabarkes: If your looking for somewhere to start, look at games like WARHAMMER. What makes them so popular? I think part of the reason is the realism of the game-play. I personally am working on a not much more complicated, but more accurate to the fluff version of it.But really the point of this is, try to make it something that the players create and less fixed. Not necessarily a sandbox, but not chess....Show more
