What to look for when buying a car.?

Bruno Galasso: Honda Fit32 mpg auto, 34 manual.toyota yaris alos gets 32 but it's an inferior car.noisy engine, bad brakes, choppy hwy ride.annoying center gauges.the Fit comes with all power accessories, side curtain air bags and ABS....Show more

Keneth Mailhot: Current inspection, milage, no oil on engine, transmission shifts smoothly(automatic) or clutch is still good (manual) overall condition of body check wheel wells and underbody for rust, tires in good condtion (penny check).

Nell Dipiero: I look for a lot of things.1. I research the model to find the main problems that may occur.2. The quality of the parts needs to be worth the price3. Good gas mileage and power for the type of motor4. Low mileage5. Check for leaks and listen to the car to make sure the engine is ok.6. How it handles on the road with turns/stopping/takeoff......Show more

Monica Voltin: I would look at the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla based on your criteria. both will get you! mid to upper 30's on the highway and retain their value even with tons of miles on them.

Claude Gloden: ex. like mercedes C would look better for 21-28.. and mercedes E or S would look weird on them. or like civic for teens and not camry even though they both don't look really flashy anyhow you make it. Why is that?

Season Confalone: if it runs

Scot Sepulbeda: I very own #6 and that i like it. i particularly effortless approximately 27mpg between hwy and city utilising. in spite of the shown fact that it calls for a top rate gas. in spite of the shown fact that, the organic delight from utilising a BMW is 2nd to none. I drove it 500 miles for a job interview as quickly as and it became surprising. My chum had G35 and enjoyed it for various motives, specifically for potential. He purely replaced it with the recent G37. Nissan and Honda at the instant are not luxury manufacturers and don't even come close whilst comparing to autos like BMW, Audi, or Infinit! y. Scion xD is a too grotesque for me to evaluate. So, those c! ould be my selections so as: a million. BMW 325i 2. Infinity G35 3. Audi A3 sturdy success...Show more

Alisa Kaleiwahea: It's about affordability for teens & lookin' cool for the twenty year olds, Here I am about to turn 40 & I'm back in a compact car (Nissan). I'm not concerned w/ image rather than practicality. If everyone bought a car that was actually used for it intention, then we would all be saving so much money in fuel. But there are those who must have that Escalade & Yukon because the neighbor has one & once a year he pulls a boat w/ it.

Arden Strachn: A very useful article on buying car and its insurance. It could be very helpful for you. You could find it here Buying a new car, insurance and all and the link of the article is http://www.jobfindcareer.com/Buying-a-new-car-insu... Best wishes. Charis Deguzman: get a carfax report

Rocio Karvis: ex. like mercedes C would look bette! r for 21-28.. and mercedes E or S would look weird on them. or like civic for teens and not camry even though they both don't look really flashy anyhow you make it. Why is that?

Cedric Grimstead: how much mileage is on the car, whether or not the airbags have been used, miles per gallon

Cody Petrulis: As far as new cars go, the Toyota Corolla is rated at 37 MPG hwy, the Honda Civic is rated at 36, and a base Mini Cooper gets 37 as well.If you REALLY want to get the most for a gallon of gas, you can try to find a Geo/Chevy Metro from the late 90s. Those things get in the mid-40s. Reliability, however, is questionable at best....Show more

Mark Hovanes: #1. Safety, airbags, etc.#2. Everything besides looks, how much gas is needed, mileage, etc.

Sammie Bocanegra: looks , interiors ,security systems ,brand, price and mileage

Frank Crummell: I think it has to do with what we're used to seeing. Many middle-aged people drive bigger cars because they h! ave families and have to make room for kids/pets/kids' friends/kids spo! rts equipment. They don't really have the luxury of the smaller and faster sports car, because it's just not practical anymore.Younger people have less of a burden; they're usually driving around just themselves and a friend, so they can go with a smaller car. Because of this, I think we all get used to seeing it this way, and start associating younger people with the smaller cars, and middle-aged people with families with bigger cars. When we start seeing things we're not used to, it just looks weird to us....Show more

Sheree Hipwell: 1. Generally we are fixated on the sticker price of the car; rather just calculate the interest rates and the monthly payments associated with it.2. Of course car safety should be given the first priority. Please try to make various safety checks and ensure that you get the best deal & avoid car accidents. 3. You can save hundreds of dollars by checking the fuel consumption of the model you choose. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/findaca! r - this could be of help.4. Check cost of insurance before you purchase the car, of course selecting a car insurance company is quite challenging. Do some researching on its customer service and satisfaction rating. Just check if there is any complaint against it.5. Consider green rating of the vehicleYou can select a model based on the above criteria. Contact at least 4-6 dealers and request price quotes. Then decide.Hope this link will be useful for car research http://www.autousa.com/content/research.jsp...Show more

Abby Herwood: It is time to trade off my 2002 Honda CRV and I want to get a front wheel drive car. Hybrid is not the answer for me as I live 90 miles from town and its all 70 MPH drving non stop. I do not care if I have to sit on a apple crate, I just need the best MPG and front wheel drive is a must as these Montana winters can be tough. What is your opinion?

Jon Bergmeier: I wish I new all this befor I got my car. Havent had my car very long a! nd it's knocking. But it's not the oil light or any engine lights. I don! 't know?Need to have it checked. Thank for the info guys.

Lynn Melbourne: Engine i mean it power than exterior than interior

Elinore Schlinker: Milage, Service history, how old is the person that is selling the car, has the car been lowered, look for modifications, check to see if there is any variation in the colour of the car this can be a clear indication that the car has been in an accident, tyres obviously are a good indicator to the condition of the suspention, excess scrubbing or wear on the edges could be an indication of damaged or worn suspension. Have a listen to the engine and be aware of any unusual noise, check the tail pipe for smoke or steem, check the dipstick for the condition of the oil, these are all indicators of the condition of the engine, particularly if the owner say's the car gets serviced regularly but the oil on the dipstick is all gluggy, now pop the radiator cap off and look at the water, if it looks like mud, then it has not been l! ooked after and could quite possibly give you problems down the track :o)...Show more

Sylvie Snetting: Well, Id suggest you go with a Honda accord or CRV or Acura, or Toyota. In the interior look for it to be clean, If it has a bunch of cigarette burns in it then its a indicator that it has not been taken care of. Turn on the air and the heat let them run for awhile. I live in Florida so air conditioning is very important. Check the windshield wipers to see if they work. I once bought a car and the friggin wipers didnt work. Check the miles to see how many miles are on it. if its got high miles Id reconsider or negotiate the price, Check all controls such as the lights, cruise control, windows, radio, every control. On the outside of the car make sure the lights turn on, signals work and a little trick that my Grandpa told me was to have someone with you. When you test drive it, take it to a gas station and get some white napkins or white towel, or white hanky is w! hat he used. Hold the hanky over the exhaust pipe very firmly and have! the person with you rev up the engine high a few times. If that hanky is now black dont buy the car. I once did that with a little Fierro and the thing shot what looked like oil all up my arm. When I took it back to the car lot and told the guy what I had did and it shot crap all up my arm and that I wasnt buying it he was pissed. He got in it and gunned it, sqealing the tires and acting like a fool. I thought no wonder its leaking a bunch of crap everywhere, look at the way he is driving it. I will never for get that. He thought for sure he had found himself a sucker and when I told him why I wasnt buying he was MAD. Also Id reccommend flooring it just once for a second to see how it reacts. Pay attention to the transmission and how it shifts. Is it sluggish does it jerk or shift hard when it shifts? If so then thats a bad sign that the transmission is slipping. After you have test driven it look under the hood and see if anything is linking, like the radiator or hoses,! break fluid or any other fluid. Also its always best to have a mechanic look at it and ask him if he thinks you should buy the car and how much you are going to pay for it. Just tell him a friend of yours is wanting to sell it to you. (sometimes a local mechanic is in good with the car lots around the area) Thats why I say tell him a friend is selling it to you. Oh yeah if you hear a ticking sound from the engine then its the lifters tapping which isnt a good sign, Also if you hear a knocking sound then the motor is about to go. Either of these sounds and I would not buy it. Also make sure it dont smell funny when you start it up or smoke bad out the tail pipe.Best of luck to you....Show more
