Tips on buying a car?

Frederic Engellant: I would never buy a car sight-unseen, and that price sounds crazy cheap - so either it's in awful shape or it's a scam. Also, unless it's more than 25 years old, you won't be able to drive it in the USA unless you make safety and emissions modifications that could cost thousands.

Emerita Sciandra: Be careful you need to use a site like Ebay and pay with paypal.Using those will help if you end up with a bad deal.Personally I would not buy a used foreign car with over 100,000 miles. If you import a car you need to check and see what kind of fees youwill have to pay on top of the sale price. You should be Leary of such a good deal. Sites like Craigs List have a lot of dishonest people....Show more

Jarrod Darnall: Tip #1. If the deal is too good to be true, it is a scam. If it's not a scam, you are going to pay more in shipping than the car is worth.

Lissette Semon: Get as many photos of the car as possible so that you can review its condi! tion. Pictures do tell a story. If possible, get any documented history of the car even if it's a few repair bills.Consider that $2000 might be a great deal for the car, but always consider how much it will cost for transport. Would you still want the car if the transport costs were $3000?Also, will it be easy to obtain any parts for repairs and/or restoration? This might be an issue.Hope this all works out to your advantage....Show more
