Do I understand the argument against Universal Health Care correctly?

Lolita Deschamp: Global warming is not man made. The earth has gone through MULTIPLE and NATURAL temperature swings. The THEORY of global warming is not a fact.30 years ago it was global cooling

Betsey Muehlbach: it seems to me the name of the game is crisis management. To delay doing things as they should be done ...in a well thought out well planned and disciplined manner, or wait till islands are submerged, mass evacuations of cities and a massive refugee crisis is happening, and drinking water becomes scarce, and strange new diseases and viruses are takingn off. Then I am sure the environment will have our full attention, but why?...why wait till then? Is it because it allows profits to be made now, while knowing that there will be even greater profits later to sell the vaccines and other solutions that will be needed later?

Tracy Huesso: Hey , they look at the potus and see him doing just that and figure if he can get away with it , why can't they

Derrick Cacioppo: That sounds about right. Check this out. I have a disabled child. I was married to her father and she was planned and at the time of her birth we were doing ok. But he decided he couldn't handle it and left us without paying child support or anything. I was all alone raising a child that HAD TO have my care. I could not leave her in a daycare or with a sitter because of her needs and I couldn't seem to get a nurse to come into the home for me to work, so I couldn't. But finally she was able to get SSI. Now I am remarried and we are doing ok. Thing is we can't make over $3000 a month or else her Medicaid will be cut, even if we make $1 over. But she can't get insurance that is reasonable because of her preexisting condition. This is sick to me. her med bills are about $4000 a month she has to stay on Medicaid unless I become a millionaire. But my husband who is from England can get a circumcision at the age of 23 for FREE only because he didn't ! like the way it looked. Our system is screwed and the only wa! y we can have a decent life is to become millionairs or move to England. We have opted for England. I have to leave my own country so I can live comfortably sad isn't it.EDIT: Let me just say America is suppose to be a SOCIETY. We are suppose to be different from other countries we are suppose to take care of our poor, weak, old, disabled isn't that something that the founding father's kinda wanted?...Show more

Aldo Decurtis: You either lack even an iota of understanding or your post is a lie and you know it. Care to tell us which? There are in fact limited resources period. The sum of everything everyone wants adds up to more than there is. There are exactly TWO ways of allocating these resources. Voluntary cooperative means or force. Obviously, like other fascists, you prefer force."We must ration health care to those who are healthy, rich, or old" is LITERALLY what the Universal Health Care ADVOCATES say.You have precisely articulated the rationing scheme the DEMO! CRATS are set on and if you paid even a little attention you KNEW that - Democrats keep SAYING it on TV for the love of God....Show more

Spencer Heidtbrink: I would just like to say that the only real universal health care is single payer or socialized health care and unfortunately our proud president does not want that.

Marielle Hedeiros: Pretty much. But Obama's plan is superior to this.

Sonya Volcko: yes. they should be allowed to pour benzine on the ground as exxon did in california.

Sylvie Snetting: You can't take from Peter to give to Paul. The gov't can't give you anything that they didn't take away from someone else.A gov't big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take away everything you have....Show more

Erica Bottaro: You people criticize him even when he does something you support.

Stevie Kizziar: the argument goes like this:those who are more productive and of greater value to society should receive more o! r better. more or better food, housing, health care, money, clothing, e! ducation or whatever.this is the incentive for people to succeed. below is an example of how a government sponcered program keeps people from progressing.

Mitchel Demry: There will always be someone who seeks to gain advantage over others. It seems in the world today we have alot of them.We can still have capitalism. We just need to make sure to keep people honest. So we do need a few basic rules and people who check up periodically to make sure people arent breaking the rules. We dont live in an honest enough world to have unfettered free markets unfortunately. However all that being said its a mistake to have politicians be the sole ones checking up on making sure people are playing by the rules. since so many politicians themselves dont.

Arnoldo Budzynski: Healthcare is bad. It makes government bigger, raises taxes, and reduces quality. Plus do you want a huge waiting list at your doctor?

Dexter Dingus: This has nothing to do with capitalism or the fre! e market system. It has EVERYTHING to do with personal integrity and ethics...which have unfortunately fallen by the wayside. If you know your history, the attitude of the people is always led first by the attitude of their leaders. What else would you expect when you see our own government leaders taking bribes, lying to the citizens about how great their plans are etc? What else can you expect when unions make it possible for someone to do a bad job and still keep their job and those same unions are the ones backing our politicians? Businesses have learned that people like being conned...even if they scream or holler about it later. People want the best. People want something for nothing. People want a good deal. If someone can convince you that he can give you that...of course you are going to bite.Individual responsibility has become a thing of the past. If you don't want to work...fine...we give you welfare. If you don't want to study in school....fine...we make sure t! hat when you feet hit the street that some kind of government program i! s there to make sure you don't have to suffer the results of your decisions. In every great and powerful society, Greece..The Roman Empire etc....the down fall came after the leaders stopped being held responsible by the people. We have all become robots walking around in this country mouthing the words...whats in it for me...whats in it for me? It is our own fault that we see the degradation of society...and it is up to US to stop blaming everyone else and start accepting our own responsibility as the watchdogs of our government and of general dishonesty in businesses etc. But remember, honestly ...like charity...begins at home. How many of you have sold something to someone else without telling them every little imperfection?

Raven Purl: Not quite. They believe that everyone should pay their own even if they can't afford it.But then turn around in the same breath and say that people should have known better than to buy a home they couldn't afford....Show more

Da! rwin Ecton: I agree, that is why hospitals and doctors need to publish price list just like you get at the store. Capitalism and market pricing does wonders for keeping costs down, it would work in health care as well.

Inell Riesgo: No, you pretty much miss the point entirely. It is all about liberty. Simple as that. There is no way to take my money by force so that you can dictate what health care I receive without trampling liberty. If you love and value freedom, then you support the right of every person to choose their own health care.

Raymundo Kyser: Obama might lose his wealthiest liberal eco-terr0rists, but would make up the difference by happy Americans going back to work.

Donella Vasta: To answer your question; No, but then again I do not believe that the world will end in 2012 as prophet Al Gore has publicly predicted. What will you do when you wake up on Jan. 01, 2013 and find Al Gore was wrong?

Derrick Smsith: No. As usual, you have ! grasped nothing being suggested.

Jess Grizzel: I know part of the! prices nondisclosure issue is sort of like payment nondisclosure (designed to cover the company habit of paying people discriminatly based on non work related factors like race, gender, religion, or age.) Customers will be put off when they find out they are being charged more than three times the price other customers are being charged. (why is that legal again?) I think it should be mandated that total price be presented upfront, and discriminatory pricing be eliminated. (...except for sliding scale costs, or auction, or when forced to change the price due to supply and demand.)I also think work payments should be made easily verifiable and comparable. (Every other form of privacy in this country is easily violated, but this one, which actually hurts peoples lives, is still protected. Why?)

Lynn Mctier: The rationing "scheme" as you call it can clearly be seen by looking at other countries. It's a real possibility and not a "wish" of the Republicans as you eluded t! o.

Kirk Coolbeth: What ever happened to making a straight-up, honest business deal? Is this no longer profitable? Why, in a system where companies are supposed to put a product on the market so that consumers can evaluate it, in comparison with others, and make an informed choice about which to buy, are companies so intent on tactics like evasion (not being up-front about prices and fees) and outright dishonesty (salespeople hyping and lying about product quality)? Why can't products stand on their own merits? Why do companies that provide services (like health care) have to hide their prices? Why do companies sell products full of poisons and death traps and call it "giving their customers what they want"?I suppose I already know the answers. But why is a system based on dishonesty and sales pitches supposed to "benefit us all" when it obviously disproportionately screws over consumers?

Coleman Petropoulos: We now live in a world in which reputation means almost! nothing. Businesses know that many, perhaps most, consumers will shop! based on the price only. So, for instance, a small shop that specializes in fish and aquariums might have slightly more expensive fish and supplies...but the owner and workers there really know everything there is to know about keeping a home or business aquarium. However, WalMart has a lot of the same species and supplies, so many people will ask the owner and workers at the small fish store, but buy from WalMart, because that's the cheapest way to do it...in the short run. In the long run, the small shop will go out of business, and people will have to do their own fishy research. This is bad for the fish hobbyist, bad for the fish store owner and his workers, but good for WalMart. So businesses tend to try to compete on price, and almost nothing else.In short, both most businesses and most consumers are mostly concerned with price to the exclusion of other services that a business might offer. The businesses that offer excellent service and/or selection will quite! frequently go under, because so many people flock to WalMart (or KMart, or Target), which doesn't offer service and doesn't offer much of a selection, but they're cheap. For the record, I do as much of my shopping as possible at small locally owned businesses. For instance, last week I went to a locally owned comic book shop and picked up several graphic novels. I know the owner, he knows me and my tastes, and he's always happy to recommend new comics to me. He is extremely good at these recommendations, because he knows what sort of thing I like, and he knows his stock, and he knows that people who like series X will probably like series Y, for instance.

Kenneth Blacker: First of all it says "Promote" general welfare which is to create an atmosphere which is conducive like low taxes and few regulations It further says "provide for common defense" THAT means reach in the pocket and pay for it. The current congress and administration obviously has it backwards. The ! government has NO authority to require anyone to purchase health insura! nce (or anything else, for that matter) or face a tax. And if you buy too good a policy, you face another tax.(because that is not fair, and EVERYTHING has to be fair) If the government goes into the health insurance business, they will be the ONLY company to operate in all fifty states. That is already unfair competition. But consider that the government insurance can operate at a loss for the rest of time. so how is the plan you are supposed to be able to keep if you like supposed to be able to stay in business? I'll tell you, THEY ARE NOT! That is what we mean when we say that the public 'option" is a back door way to get to single payer. Which is what SENATOR Obama said he wanted. Even though President Obama denies that he is proposing socialized medicine....Show more

Myron Leftwich: I love it when people thing health care is a "right". Go ahead. Lie down and suffer. Maybe if you would be more self responsible you wouldn't have to be such a spoiled brat that wants! everything for free.Liberals and their crybaby attitude....Show more

Heidy Fujikake: They call it social darwinism - which is a misnomer. It 's actually Malthusanism.Let the poor and downtrodden die, and be rid of our excess population. It's their motto.

Cordia Fivecoat: Yes Mr. Wolf. EPA can ease regulations in all 50 states and you'd see a surge in jobs and prosperity.

Brian Marquina: no try again.

Shad Bushweller: Limited, no. And Conservatives don't want the government in control. We already pay for children (and because of the new schip program cover in more people) of mothers that are poor, through medicare and taxes we pay for that pay for our senior citizens, so please tell me who else.Medicare and Medicaid are all blown way out from what they were supposed to cost. We taxpayers have seen an increase in cost to the taxpayers for a number of years. Social Security is costing more than it was supposed to.welfare cost more than it was suppo! sed to.A hammer for the military costs more than it is supposed to.And ! believe me, we haven't had free market medicine for a while. How can the market or the individual help control there own healthcare costs, when the government through medicare and medicaid is telling the doctors how much things should cost. And the paper work and regulations for all of this are way out of control. Ever wonder what happened to the family doctor? If the government wants to help, then allow them to take care of the catastrophic care and coverage, allow the market to cover the day to day preventive medicine and broken bones and colds and other routine care. If the market could actually be in control, then maybe general health care could go back to the local clinic or doctors office (where it is cheaper). Again as a conservative, I don't want the federal government involved in my day to day life. I want to choose my doctor, and have my doctor make the decisions for my family based upon his knowledge of my family. I don't want the government to have any say! in my health care....Show more

Fred Caminita: Awwww you mean no $5 gas?

Dick Ovdenk: ... regulations and convince a Bain Capital-esque equity firm to buy it. http://www.google.com/search?q=Obama+relaxes+regul...See cons, Obama is completely incompetent. At least not when 20+ electoral votes hang in the wind.

Zulema Baccam: You're exaggerating your claims. That hurts your cause. People aren't stupid.

Mikel Bethay: Actually if your parents have jobs and your a child you have healthcare..Then there are circumstances where Hospitals will turn away people because they either don't pay..or they have addictions that require treatment--and they refuse to follow the rules..===What the Clinton's seem to suggest is a healthcare system with no real HEALTH Truths running inside of it...just a large scale College--Payoff Scheme..===Its inflation with a side order of GRITS...===Americans need to assure that health is a home schooled issue--and they don't..if any! thing American's are wasteful beings...Healthcare in the measure of the! Clinton's is really a payoff scheme for ill-reputed college grads...===That's the appearance I seem to have gathered....Show more

Curtis Josef: Its when everyone has free health care, yet no one can actually access health care.
