Hye Caulley: Its primary effect will be on the consumer who will pay proportionally higher prices for goods; it will have little or no effect on businesses which will simply pass the increased cost of doing business on to the consumer. It is government enforced unemployment.Small businesses are much more sensitive to labor costs than real large corporations, because the large corporation can diversify their expenses over different holdings. As an example, Wal-Mart moves into a new community and sells at loss, to force small businesses to attempt to compete at price. The small business dies but Wal-Mart uses profit from all other stores to make up for the ones running at a loss. The same occurs for labor....Show more
